The story behind the Taupiri Sunflower Farm

The idea for the Taupiri Sunflower Farm started in 2020 when the owners planted around 2000 sunflowers along the fence line of their Waikato farm.

The choice of sunflowers was to honour the owners late sister and to bring a bit of happiness to others during a tough year. They sold the flowers at the road side which proved to be quite popular.

In 2021 they saw how popular ‘pick your own flowers’ was overseas, so decided to plant the front paddocks full with sunflowers for visitors to come visit and pick.

Guests now come to visit from all over New Zealand to experience the joy the sunflowers bring and to take home their own sunflowers.
